ABOUT EIRIPAN
Eírîpan is derived from a Macushi word meaning "to share".
Children in the Rupununi region of Guyana face social and economic inequality, especially regarding access to education. Eírîpan was established in 2004 under Guyana's Friendly Society Act laws to address this inequality.
Eírîpan has spent two decades promoting literacy, 'personal participation in development,' and cultural preservation in hinterland communities. We are proud that over this period, communities in which Eírîpan has had projects have reported increased participation in education, community development and pride among young people of Macushi and Wapishana descent.
Eírîpan works directly with local institutions such as Village Councils, Health Workers, School Teachers, and Community-Based NGOs in all our projects. Our volunteers come from various backgrounds, ranging from UG students to International Volunteers and Office Workers. Through the organization, we have afforded a few young volunteers from the coastal areas of Guyana the opportunity to visit and learn about Guyana's hinterland. Some volunteers may join us for a single project cycle, while others stay with us for years.
Annually, an estimated 1,000 children benefit from Eírîpan Projects.
OUR PROJECTS
Eírîpan believes that access to education and a sense of personal worth are necessary factors in the process that transforms a child into a complete adult and that growing up without money need not mean growing up without HOPE.
